As an agricultural and environmental communicator, I found an interest in marketing and graphic design. between journalism, public relations, or marketing a product, the method of communication is the same. Only the message is different. I found great joy in creating these examples of my design skills, and hopefully you’ll enjoy them as well. The context for these examples is posted next to the image.
Cloudcroft: Christmas capital of new mexico
My hometown of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, recently launched a new tourism campaign, the ‘Christmas Capital of New Mexico.” I took the opportunity to apply this campaign to a class I was attending while in college.
As part of the required project material, I created a postcard advertisement (right), a t-shirt design, and several social media posts scheduled to post at 11:00 MDT. I also added a calendar and announcement to the local newspaper, the Mountain Monthly, which was published in the November 2023 and December 2023 issues of the paper.
The t-shirt design got printed with the help of my aunt, Cressie Brown, who has a gift shop in Cloudcroft. She had a booth in an event the Chamber of Commerce hosted in the local museum, and our shirts with my design generated over $2,000 in revenue.
Huntin’ Fool application
This email ad was designed as part of an application process to work with the company, Huntin’ Fool. While I was not selected for the position, I did get some amazing feedback on this piece, and they liked what they saw from the demo ad that I created for the application. I can move forward with a better grasp on what different groups expect to see in their advertisements.
magazine spread
I created this magazine spread as part of a final project in a journalism class I took while attending college. Because the assignment was focused on the design elements, I chose to add some random letters, also known as lorem ipsum, to the spread to imitate copy where a real story would be.
I received incredible feedback on this piece and passed this project with flying colors.
